Vaultis — Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-02

Agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Vaultis, the publisher of the Vaultis app for iOS and Android. By downloading, installing or using Vaultis you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Who may use Vaultis

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough under the law where you live to enter into a contract without a parent or guardian. If you use Vaultis for an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

You may use Vaultis only on a device you own or are authorised to manage.

Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Vaultis on devices you control, for your own private or internal business purposes.

You may not:

• copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute the app;
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where the law expressly allows it and only to the extent allowed;
• remove or hide any notice of ownership in the app;
• modify the app, or build a competing product from parts of it;
• work around the passcode screen, the encryption, or any other security measure in the app;
• use automated tools to interact with the app in ways it was not designed for.

We keep every right we do not grant you here.

Accounts

Vaultis has no user accounts. You do not register, and there is no login, no profile and no cloud service holding your data.

Your passcode and your recovery code are your only keys. Because we never receive them, we cannot reset them, recover them or open your vault for you. If you lose both, the protected content cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Store your recovery code somewhere safe and keep your own backups of anything important.

You are responsible for keeping your passcode secret and for the security of your device.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Vaultis:

• to hide, store or transmit material that is illegal where you are, including child sexual abuse material, stolen data or material that infringes someone else's rights;
• to monitor, record or restrict another person without the consent required by law, for example by installing it on a partner's, employee's or child's device without a lawful basis;
• to obstruct a lawful investigation or to destroy evidence;
• on a device you do not own or manage, or in breach of a workplace or school policy that applies to you;
• in a way that harms, disables or overloads any service we or a third party provide, or that interferes with anyone else's use of their device.

If you use Vaultis on a device belonging to someone else, or to restrict access for another person, you are responsible for having the legal right to do so. Laws about workplace and family monitoring differ from country to country.

Your content

What you protect with Vaultis is yours. We claim no ownership of it, we do not access it, and it does not pass through our servers. You are solely responsible for the lawfulness of what you store.

Because the app is offline by design, we cannot restore lost content, review disputes about it, or produce it in response to a request from you or anyone else. Keep your own backups.

Our intellectual property

Vaultis, its name, logo, design, source code and documentation belong to us and are protected by copyright and trademark law. These terms give you a licence to use the app, not any ownership of it.

Feedback you send us is welcome. If you send it, you allow us to use it to improve the product without owing you payment or credit.

Purchases

Vaultis is currently offered free of charge and contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising.

If we introduce paid features in the future, they will be sold only through the Apple App Store or Google Play. In that case:

• the price, currency and taxes shown at the moment of purchase apply;
• a subscription would renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, and you can cancel at any time in your store account settings;
• billing, cancellation and refunds are handled by the store, not by us, under the Apple refund process or the Google Play refund policy;
• we would announce the change in the app before it takes effect, and features you already have would not be taken away without notice.

Consumer rights that the law of your country gives you, including any statutory right to withdraw from a purchase, are not affected by this section.

Third-party services and links

Vaultis is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and their terms apply to that distribution. Our website and our support replies may link to other sites. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, their products or their privacy practices.

Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, are not responsible for Vaultis, and have no obligation to provide support for it.

Updates and availability

We may update Vaultis to fix problems, improve security or add features. Some updates are required for the app to keep working, particularly after a change in the operating system. We may also stop supporting older operating system versions or older devices.

We may change or discontinue Vaultis, in whole or in part. If we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice in the app where possible, so that you can reveal your protected items and retrieve your files first. Reveal your hidden items and empty your vault before uninstalling the app.

Disclaimer of warranties

Vaultis is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

We do not promise that the app will be free of errors, that it will run without interruption, or that it will be compatible with every device or operating system version.

In particular, we do not promise that Vaultis will stop a determined attacker. It is a strong lock on a device whose operating system, hardware and other software are outside our control. Someone with your device passcode, with administrator access, or with physical possession of an unlocked device may still reach your data.

Nothing here removes rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, for lost profits, or for loss of data, including data made unreachable because a passcode or recovery code was lost.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims connected with Vaultis is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of Vaultis in breach of these terms or of the law, including any claim by a person whose device or data you protected, restricted or monitored without the right to do so.

Termination

You may stop using Vaultis at any time by uninstalling it, which ends this licence.

We may suspend or end your licence if you break these terms, if you use the app unlawfully, or if we are required to do so by law. When the licence ends, you must stop using the app and remove it from your devices. The sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law continue to apply after termination.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your own courts and to rely on your own consumer protection rules, that right is not affected by this section.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us. Most problems are solved faster by email.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example after a change in the law or in how the app works. The current version is always published at https://vaultis.legalpage.site/terms. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will announce it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Vaultis after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, uninstall the app.
